Athenian Military Training :
Plato was a famous Greek philosopher who believed that it was very essential for them to spend two years (18-20) for physical education through military training. At the age of Twenty, the boys were prepared them for fight or war. Eventually, the boys would begin training at the gymnasium, and the preparation for war, and good health at an old age.

When the boys turned 18 years of age, they entered Military school for two additional years. At age of 20 years, they graduated. At the age of Twenty, they prepared for fight or war.

Between the age of (6-18) years Spartan boys were sent to Military school at the age of 6-7 years. They lived, trained and slept in barracks of their brotherhood. At school, they were taught survival skills, and other skills necessary to be a great soldier.
Selection of Spartan soldiers : 18 to 20 years Spartan males had to pass a difficult test of fitness, military abilities and leadership skills.
Spartan soldiers training: Between the age of 20 to 60 selected soldiers continued to train in their brotherhood barracks. Military services did not end until a Spartan male reached the age of 60 years.
